The Civil Rights Movement and Our Ancestors Who Fought and Lost Their Lives For US

Just a few thoughts….

“You know my friends, there comes a time when people get tired of being trampled by the iron feet of oppression. There comes a time my friends, when people get tired of being plunged across the abyss of humiliation, where they experience the bleakness of nagging despair. There comes a time when people get tired of being pushed out of the glittering sunlight of life’s July and left standing amid the piercing chill of an alpine November”. — Martin Luther King Jr.

I’ve got to ask Black people, how many more years of trauma and tears do we need to endure, while sitting on our hands allowing everything our ancestors fought and died for, to be taken from us before we find our spines and our will to fight back against this continued racial onslaught? It’s not up to other people to join us and fight for us, it’s up to all of us to become, once again, what White Supremacists and racists fear most, and that’s a UNIFIED cohesive people.

Our ancestors wouldn’t have gotten us what we have today, if they weren’t unified with a common goal. They weren’t afraid of losing their jobs, their friends or their lives, because without sacrifice, there will never be ANY progress. But some of us are so busy trying to garner validation and acceptance from White people, mostly those on the right, that they have forgotten (and some have never known) who we are as a people.

Don’t allow our ancestor’s sacrifices to be in vain. We’ve got to stand up, be brave, be bold, be courageous and end this centuries-long attack on us once and for all.

Walk upright, look them in their eyes and own your power.
