No, America hasn't fully embraced the rich beauty of our natural hair. However, it's crucial that we prioritize self-acceptance and stop letting the opinions of others, particularly those of White Americans, dictate our sense of worth. When faced with unjust treatment, like what happened to the student in Louisiana, it's essential to take a stand, seek legal support if needed, while refusing to let such incidents consume our every waking moment.

The incessant need for Black individuals to monitor every aspect of ourselves, including our hair, just to navigate societal norms is exhausting and corrosive to our psyche. Our hair is an integral part of who we are, and we shouldn't feel obliged to defend its texture or our chosen hairstyles. This ongoing pressure says it's finally time to say enough is enough and dismantle this society where our natural beauty isn't celebrated and respected. Euro-centric beauty might be the norm for some, but not all. Every hair type and hairstyle should be accepted and embraced and Black people should be left the f*ck alone about our hair.
