That overqualified dog whistle irritates me to Hell and back. White people want you to play the magical negro so that they can feel comfortable around you, and then will be so proud of themselves when they throw you a few crumbs here and there because they don't feel threatened by you. But don't, under any circumstances, be articulate, intelligent, well-educated, knowledgeable, have an abundance of experience and a skillset that's off the charts. After their heads have exploded, they will then go into the "DO NOT HIRE, DO NOT HIRE, DANGER, DANGER, DO NOT HIRE" mode.

If you're already employed, it's "DO NOT PROMOTE, DO NOT PROMOTE, Aargh!" They will find every excuse under the sun to keep from promoting you to an upper management or executive position, yet will have the gall to ask you to train the person for the position that YOU weren't qualified for. Black people looking for employment or already working in corporate, are constantly in a state of flux, waiting for the next White shoe to drop, and just know...it always will. Just another day of being Black in America.
